Felt like I had the need to blog about today. After all, today was extremely eventful. Just in one short day, multiple situations can crop up, kind of like when you are signed in to MSN Messenger and is online, then everything is peaceful when all of a sudden, multiple conversation windows appear almost simultaneously! Firstly, today was the Air Rifle Women and Air Pistol Men Nationals events. Had to go to Safra Yishun alone because Timo ditched me at the last minute! (Timo, it's ok, I don't blame you because I'll feel guilty if you had not enough sleep!) Went to the range, an unfamiliar sea of faces stared at me as I searched almost frantically for signs of familiarity. To my utter dismay, there were no traces of familiar faces. Stood at a corner, fished out my handphone and began to find solace in my portable device, sending an sms to Jessica (Jessica Ma'am) to ask where she was. As if a miracle, or maybe God knew I was desperate to end my awkward loneliness, Jessica and Melissa popped up instantaneously after my message was sent! I was shocked by the "efficiency of my message"! The 3 of us then found a nice corner and settled down, after which urgent calls were made to Mr Ng and Ms Lin. After all who were supposed to arrive had arrived, we prepared the rifles, loaded the bays and suited up the first detailers. After that began the seemingly perpetual wait for myself. Sat outside the range for like almost eternity. However, as I've decided to turn over a new leaf due to ghastly mid-year exam results, I brought my tutorials for physics, chemistry, econs and gp to complete and notes to revise! The teachers and all the seniors were appalled. Mr Ng even asked me not to study so hard and be so stressed out because it's just after the mid years repeatedly! lol! Li Quan kept pushing down my tutorials and asked me not to mug! haha. Both Charles and Li Quan were like asking me to relax and said that JC1 is the time to slack! So not true man! Look at my scores! haha. So, to sum things up, I was the mugger of the day, even RJcians were telling jokes and chatting while I was studying! haha. Results of our Nationals were well, kind of expected. It's just that circumstances were and still are not in our favour, thus accounting for our results. However, judging based on the resources we have, the results we've produced thus far are really remarkable and I'd like to thank all my seniors for putting in their utmost effort for the Nationals. We as your successors will definitely bring SR's shooting to greater heights and I assure you all that we will. SR's flag awaits next year's glory! After tears were shed (I didn't cry) and spirits were dampened, we headed for lunch after packing and loading of equipment into Mr Ng's car. Wondered around for quite some time before deciding where to eat. What happened after lunch was hilarious. Charles and Timo went to watch Die Hard, while myself, Jessica and Melissa went window shopping and then we decided to rent Vcds at Kovan to watch! haha. Took the long bus trip from Yishun and I guess due to the fatigue and msg in our food, we fell asleep on the bus! As a result, after Mel woke me and Jessica up and asked where we were supposed to alight, we realised, much to our horror, that we had missed the stop! It was kind of far from the bus stop near school, around Eunos. We then quickly pressed for the bell and alighted at the next bus stop and had to cross to the other side to take the bus back using the overhead bridge. At that moment, I felt so deserted and lost, as if I were on foreign land. haha. So, we took the same bus number and headed back to SR in the opposite direction. haha. Made sure we were wide awake this time though! There were some problems facing my friends today. Coincidentally, both of them shared the exact same problem and were messaging me simultaneously! haha, how coincidental! Their problem made me realise an important essence which is also one of the basic fundamentals of friendship- trust. Although the word 'trust' is monosyllable and comprises of only 5 letters, do not belittle it's significance. The power this tiny word contains is probably larger than the impact created by atomic bomb! haha. I believe that trust builds the foundation of friendship and in this context, I'm referring to steadfast friendships. If either party were to lose trust in the other, the friendship would be meaningless. Words said by either party, no matter how impactful, would be of no value. Trust is like the bottom layer of an infrastructure. The bottom layer, although insignificant, is of immense importance. An unstable bottom layer of a building, no matter made up of any kind of good material, or has a nice outerface, will disintegrate once a strong wind sweeps past or when the ground shakes. Likewise for a friendship, without the imperative bottom layer of trust, the friendship infrastructure would definitely collapse once obstacles such as the strong wind or shaky ground are met. The key to a sustainable friendship or relationship is trust. I hereby urge all of you to trust those whom you treat and conside a friend as a strong foundation is required to sustain the heavy infrastructure. A shakey foundation would surely cause the friendship to disintegrate!
