I realised that my entries shouldn't just be about rants and reminiscing and other depressing issues, thus, I've come up with something of a totally different dimension which hopefully would be interesting enough to entice your attention or better still, to provoke your thoughts!Remember the times whereby you were fuming mad with someone but once that person flashed a smile you felt as if your heart had just melted and the anger had incredibly subsided? What about the sudden change in your opinion of someone whom you disliked or did not have a good opinion of when the person smiled at you? For those of you who had experienced such instances, I'm sure you will understand what I'm trying to explain. For those of you who have not experienced such occasions, it's ok, but I believe the thought provoking impact will work just the same. Imagine the wonder of a smile, the exercise of a few muscles that create such a strong impact! Never thought that it could be this easy to appease someone did you? haha. I do not know the reason to why when a person smiles, no matter how nasty or cruel the person is reputed to be, it just changes their whole appearance and the whole feeling the person gives you. Of course, the smile I'm referring to is the 'genuine smile' also known as the 'Duchenne smile'. Smirks or cynical smiles are total put-offs so of course they do not apply here! Try picturing this : your class bully trips, you help him up and he smiles at you. How would you feel? Even if he had bullied you before, I'm sure at the instant when he flashed you that smile, you wouldn't think of him as a bully or register any of his shortcomings would you? A smile is powerfully infectious and it's truly amazing how a person's smile can actually affect others without any visible medium of transmission! I hereby challenge all of you who have read this entry to infect people or even just a person with your smile. All it takes is several muscles coupled with sincerity to infect another person so go ahead and make the world a more pleasant smiley place to live in!Wanted to blog yesterday but was incredulously busy and tired. Yesterday was the first official training for all J1 shooters. Orientation was not bad, although we played the traditional orientation games like 'double whacko'! Survived the silly forfeit which was to do a couple of actions simultaneously, starting from a single action and subsequently adding on to the number of actions performed. Dragged Henry into performing the forfeit with me, since he was the one who landed me into the forfeit!(I was the one sitting on the inner circle while he was the one sitting on the outer circle) Got to know all of the J1s and surprisingly I can remember their names! Hopefully I won't forget them because I admit that I'm terrible at registering names! The range was kind of flooded yesterday as well, due to the heavy downpour on Monday? Well, it certainly wasn't as flooded as the time when Amanda's Secondary School's shooting range was flooded till ankle high? Had fun sweeping and scooping the rain water off the shooting grounds. After the J1s had their briefing on how to handle a pistol and rifle as well as the safety precautions etc., we began our game of "shooting finals". Basically, we were grouped in pairs or triplets and each group had to shoot a total of 10 shots and the group with the highest total score wins. Teamed up with Lin Qiang and Bryan who was busy calling me names throughout our shooting session! Played a childish game of 'O Ya Pey Ya Som' (forgive my horrendous spelling!) to decide who would go first. Lin Qiang lost. haha. So, he shot 4 shots and went first while Bryan and I shot 3 shots. Didn't place much hope on achieving high scores for myself because I'm fully aware of my instability and inconsistency! However, to my surprise, an expected '0' turned out to be a '10.4'! Like "Wow" what a huge jump! From then onwards, Mr Ng said to buy whoever shot the first 10.9 a drink and the enthusiastic Bryan kept cheering for me and chanting "10.9, 10.9..." so stressed! haha. The 2nd shot was not up to standard, 4.5. However, the 3rd shot turned for the better! Bryan was cheering me on before my last shot while Lin Qiang kept giving me 2 thumbs up. haha. Very supportive as well as distracting! haha. Thanks guys for your encouragements! Shot a 10.1 for the last shot, although it wasn't clear initially what my score was because the '10' point area was filled with a few shots. Just hope that my score wasn't tabulated wrongly because I'll be extremely guilty if I was supposed to have shot less than 10.1. Nevertheless, our team clinched 2nd place. Not too bad because the first team comprised of J2s. haha. Our score wasn't very far from the first team as well! Anyway, had a fun time during shooting training yesterday and tomorrow will be the start of our shooting camp which ends on Sunday morning! Kind of excited and anxious because tomorrow will be another fortnightly shoot and this time it'll be the full 40 shoots! Can't imagine how painful my leg will be after the whole shoot! haha.
