watched harry potter and the goblet of fire today at gv grand with jellybean, siew hwee, hilda and my sis. was almost late today for the movie. got stuck in a heavy traffic jam in the heavy rain! was so afraid that i couldn't make it in time but managed to in the end. phew! by the time we went into the cinema it was pitch dark. they were playing the advertisments and was currently showing the 'chicken little' movie ad. very funny. chicken little was dancing humorously to the tune 'dragostea din tei' and a few kids were like singing along and doing some dance moves. the movie began almost immediately just as we settled down in our seats. Started off with a bang, harry potter fans were clapping and cheering loudly when the words 'warner bros. presents...harry potter and the goblet of fire'. i was like 'erm' and giving a 'diao' look. to my surprise, i looked over at jellybean and she was cheering and clapping as well. in the end, i just 'ermed' and fixed my eyes to the movie screen.
As promised, i shall now fill in the details of the long-awaited movie. as usual, the movie did not feature everything in the book as, if they were to do so, the movie would have been much much longer. heard some girls in the washroom after the movie saying that they would prefer the movie to be longer and include more details and that they didn't mind sitting through the movie for a longer while as 'lord of the rings' was 1 hour longer than this movie. anyway, back to the movie, i feel that emma watson's acting was a little too exagerated. it seemed very fake and unnatural when she tried to express the appropriate emotions required for the different scenes. next, i found that the movie was a little slip-shod. it was as if they had little time for the movie and the scenes were sort of incomplete. as quoted from the girls in the washroom, "i thought that they were going to show the quidditch tournament but they just showed victor krum's face and the next thing you know, the death eaters came and it just ended like that". i was also quite disappointed with the part where they entered the maze. i wanted to see the part with the sphinx. to my disappointment, they just showed fleur delacour getting tangled in mangroves? and harry telling cedric that victor krum was bewitched and the next thing you know, both harry and cedric are already running towards the triwizard trophy. i didn't quite catch the part where victor krum was bewitched as he didn't seem so, partly because the scenes were moving a little too fast. well, there are also areas which ought to be commented, such as the different humorous scenes like ron with his dress robes and harry feeling disgusted when the beauxbaton's headmistress was looking longingly at hagrid and vice versa. on the whole, the movie was not too bad, packed with humour and excitement at the same time. the only downfall was the "incomplete scenes" and the fast-moving pace which was a little hard to keep up with. I recommend this show to those who are hesitant about watching harry potter movies. well, i certainly do not need to recommend this movie to all the ardent harry potter fans out there do i? anyway, today has certainly been a fun day. was so looking forward to the movie and now that i've watched it, well, i just feel like watching it again or just see more harry potter stuff. haha. well, shall stop here for today. hope that those who have not watched the show will find my short review useful and that those who have actually watched it maybe give some of your own opinions?
